Pinyin Foundation is a tool used by native Chinese speakers in Mainland China to learn the sounds of Chinese, or to look up unknown characters in dictionaries.
It uses the 26 letters of the Latin alpjabet to represent the sounds of Chinese.
Many of the letters are pronounced in a similar way to their English pronunciation, but not all of them. Some are, in fact, pronounced quite differently from what an English speaker might expect.
However, it is very important to imitate your instructors and recordings of native speakers so that you learn standard Mandarin pronunciation.
